Whalehead Club

In only a few minutes, guests can stroll along the Resort’s trails to visit the beautiful Currituck Heritage Park. Among the attractions within the Park is the Currituck Beach Lighthouse, built in 1876, the Outer Banks Center for Wildlife Education and a Maritime Museum. The Park’s featured attraction and the gem of Corolla is the Whalehead Club Historic House Museum. While the Park is free, the Whalehead Club charges an admission fee.

Corolla Lighthouse

Climb the 220 steps to the top for a breathtaking view while learning from docents, brochures, and exhibits about shipwrecks, the lives of lighthouse keepers, the history of the tower (it filled the last remaining dark space on the east coast in 1875) and the original 1st order Fresnel lens. The beacon continues to be an active aid to navigation (3 seconds on, 17 off).
